+1, try getting a second opinion somewhere else.

I would....BUT, their is only TWO staelerships in my city. I bought my car from the least BS dealership. I called in the other dealership and they couldnt give me straight answer besides bringing my car in. LOL . Im going to look around for another dealership in other cities next to me. I have no other choice I guess.

You can get the codes cleared from anyone with a scanner, doesnt have to be bmw...

Mehh, I was looking to buy one but was worried that I would buy the wrong scanner or buy the scanner and then figure out I dont know what Im doing. Theirs is not really any car inthusiasts in my city. We dont even have car shows anymore because the lack of funding. Hence it has taken me 7 months to find a car audio store that will attempt to install an audio upgrade in my e60. Ive never even seen a scanner. How easy is it to learn? How do you know which one will be the best in what im looking to do?

I don't know the answer, but what you say, about canceling the error messages one by one does seem logical...

Why do you think he would be lying to you? What would he gain by it?

+1.

All computer programs are not that logical.

Of what I seen at a BMW dealers program (Progman) check, they look through the whole system,
and they wait for the error codes.

There's no "half" system error checking.

Im always in their...getting this or that done. Firgured they simply ran out of time without getting to my car, and rather made up a story. Just want to know if they are good guys, that all.

they clear all trouble codes, and the codes will come up again if they are still having problems..

So basiclly they are right? If one of the messages wont clear they all will stay "lit"? Still dosent make sense that a software would operate like this.

No the dealer is lying, although the bulb is missing from a foglight... they can clear all errors and the only error to come up again is about the foglight being out...

Wich will clear as soon as the bulb is replaced...
