Thumbs up

Has anyone this with there E60:

I was cleaning my car in the garage last week and I noticed the drivers side headlight and taillight were on, and the key wasn't in the ignition!

This happens to me when I first got the car but now it concerns me, what if that light comes on and I don?t notice it and it drains my battery!

See attached pic

Has anyone have an idea what the heck is going on?

if you hit the turn signal to the second detent, it will turn on the side light, it's a feature mostly used in erurope when you park on a narrow street so that no one hits your car at night

Welcome captainvelcro!

Your first post is right on the money. Many people are completely unaware of that feature.

Think they call it the "parking light" over here in the UK.

I believe jmnieves used a misnomer when he said headlights because his jpeg shows angel eyes. Sidemarkers was likely on, too. I have always called them parking lights, too, and my nomenclature is really dated.

Streetlight Marking (see below). Painted on streetlights that are turned off at night. Vehicles parked under a streetlight with this marking must have parking lights on.

I guess this is some kind of law here in Germany. I actually see cars parked like this all the time in my neighborhood.

Possibly, but not intentionally. Should I apologize and to whom?
