This past Sunday while shopping my car was hit in the parking lot. I always park away from others and this time it cost me as the right rear side was dented and scraped.

Of course, no note or witnesses. The only hope is that the store security cameras saw something but the police said to not hold my breath.

Repair estimate is just over $2000. I hate having my car not looking new anymore!

Sorry to hear about that. It is a shame how some people are. Was there any ice in the parking lot, snow, etc. or did the person just hit your car. Either way, I hope she gets fixed soon and looks good as new.

I know. I had that sinking feeling last week when my ride looked kind of shabby after taking on a bridge. It looks like its old self now, and the bridge is becoming a more distant memory. So, keep the faith and after repair all will be back to normal. I hope the cameras can turn up something definitive.

I always park next to a nice car of the same 'class' since these people normally look after there cars like we do. They look out when opening there door....

Good luck with finding the person who did this.

That method only works if, after those people leave, the next car parking in that space is of the same 'class'.

I still find that it's always better to park an end space (or far away) where you can add some critical distance between you and the space next to you. I hope I don't jinx anything but I can honestly say that I've only had one door ding since probably the mid-eighties. The one I got? It happened in my freaking garage at my house! A tenant parking in the space next to me dinged my M3! He blamed it on his kids but I saw him do it...

The penalty for dinging someone else's car should be a quick death.

My car is at the moment (I hope ) almost corner of airport long term parking lot. Far=not so many others next to it, but also far from supervisors.

Newer perfect place else than own garage.

Sorry to hear about that man. I am the type of Guy where as soon as something like that happens I am usually selling it right away. I loose the feeling for the car reather quickly.
Is it the whole side, or just a door? Where are you located? If anywhere around NYc area, i can recommend you an awesome body Shop that does an excelent job on BMW's. I have had a few of those in the past my self, and the cars were done beyond 100%. What color is your car? :'(

thanks for the support. No ice at all. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon.

I too normally park at an end spot or not near any cars. I am rethinking my parking "rules" now to not park in the open. It is dissapointing that a note was not left.

My car is Titanium Gray Metallic and the body shop says I will not be able to tell the difference when they are done. Said it will take about three and a half days to repair. The worst thing is that I have to drive a rental for 100+ miles a day while my 530 is in the shop!
