My 535d is up to 1,300 miles now. It has really loosened up. The alloy is still kerbed, the brakes are still squeaking. But you know what, it doesn't matter ... ! I popped in to the garage today about the brakes, they said they could fit me in if I left the car with them for 3 hours but I had things to do, they are fully booked tomorrow, but I'll get it in next week. They did come out and have a quick check on the brakes to make sure it wasn't anything major or obvious, which it wasn't - if it had been they'd have obviously pushed it up the ranks a little. My alloy wheel repairer let me down, but I've not bothered taking it anywhere else yet.

I've just been having SO MUCH fun driving the thing ... !! The remap has really transformed the car - I still can't believe the power. If anybody is thinking about a remap and wants to come for a spin in my car, I'm in NW England - drop me a PM and you can take it out for a drive. 2 miles off M56 Jct 11.

Tomorrow I get to take it for a long drive down to Oxford ... can't wait ... I've never had a car that made me smile as much or begged me to drive it as much. My wife took it for a drive after the remap yesterday - I got a text message from her, quote; "Jesus christ your car is awesome, can I have it?".

Mission accomplished

So let me get this straight -- Satan's wife calls him Jesus Christ and Satan replies "mission accomplished"...

Ok ... so ... do I order a sprint booster now? Will it make the car even better? Now I am signed up to a mod-friendly insurance company, what's next on the shopping list.

Was your reply "No, Dear" or "Hell No, Dear"?

Yesterday I talked to a colleague in Detroit who test drove a U.S. spec 535d for a few days last week ... and he loved it. However, he said it was a bit louder and rougher running than desired - both at idle and full throttle. He said it was overly noisy ... and not in a good way. Bosch seems to still be working on the proper management of burning the U.S. clean diesel fuel.

Glad you love your machine.

I've had diesels for my last, erm, 5 cars I think. The first 2 were noisy. My first E60 (525d) was a bit clattery. The 530d was ok. The 535d purrrs. I think due to our emission regulations, the quality of diesel in the UK is much better than the US, and the performance/noise will reflect this. It sounds great with the windows down, even better with the windows up (you get a soft "growl"), and will sound even better without the brake squeak !!

Russ, I have a couple of guys from Jamaica that would like to come over for test drive, they may bring some equipment with them like cutting torches and pry bars but don't let that bother you .
