I had a pretty deep scratch on the trunk of my e34 M5 (still miss that car) and had it removed completely. The shop I took it to had a guy that did "wet sanding" I think that was the name of the technique. Perhaps you can ask your detailer? The shop is located in Newport Beach, very good detailer.
Reason I say this is bc I've had a portion of my trunk wet sanded at an ok shop and it still didn't come out 1000% perfect. I mean, no one except for me knows where the spot is, but I know what angle to look from to see the matte spot - and its a bit upsetting, actually, been considering repainting the entire trunk bc of it...

Sorry for this thread but I need to vent and ask for advice on how to cover up some minor key-ing.
So I'm a little late for work and pull into my parking spot kind of fast and forgot about the front little curb and ran my front splitter into it. I go to check and find it cracked (great...) then on my way around the other side of the car I found that someone keyed their initials into my door... WTF!!! I seriously sat in my car cussing out loud and I don't get mad over very many things. It was probably the culmination of my cracked splitter, keyed car, and parking ticket the prior morning. The crack is pretty minor and the keyed part is only about 3-4 square inches but still, who does this kind of thing?! I don't park like a jackass, drive like a jackass, or anything of that sort.
That being said, is there a way I can get it fixed without repainting my entire door? Not sure if I can buff part of it out or try to touch it up but I don't want to make it worse. Sigh...

The keyed thing is unacceptable, I don't know why people do this ? Why don't they just take up a sport to burn off their envy.

Sounds like you may have to repaint the door.
I had my whole car keyed before just weeks after purchasing it. Got the insurance to cover the TEN THOUSAND dollar paint job (which was done at a dealer recommended shop). I think the insurance company felt my pain because they never collect their $500 deductible. Ironically.. Completely totalled the car about 6 months later....oops.
Keep your head up. Anything can be fixed. One day you'll look back and laugh.

Very sorry to hear that, I know how you feel for the most part. In terms of the key marks, depending on whether the scratches penetrated the clear coat far enough into to hit the base coat, you can either have it wet sanded, or if it's severe, then repainted. Good luck with getting everything back into shape.

I have a mobile paint repair guy that I used to fix a 2" long, 1" tall curb scrape on the front bumper. Total cost was $260 cash.. Not sure if you want to go that route, but it may be cheaper since its a smaller area for you. Let me know and I'll give you the info. The guy drove to me and fixed the car on my driveway. Finished in about 2 hours and you couldn't tell it was repaired.
This guy even does mobile full bumper repaint! Crazy.. but he charges about $475. (no experience with this service though) Full day job but you will not need to drive anywhere and you don't need to have your car at the shop for 3+ days.

Do not know if it would work with your situation and I have never tried it. Have seen it in a multitude of automobile periodicals.
