Correct. My new 550i has them. They even automatically fold open at about 10mph if you have forgotten to do so...pretty cool
+1, LCI with premium package has them if I am correct. Just have to push the little button by the side-view mirror controls. Europe has the option to have it programmed into the key fob (i think)...

the mirrors fold on my 06 M5 but didn't on my 06 550. It's a nice feature but do people with M mirrors find that when in the folded position, they still really stick out. They tilt up rather than fold back. Mine are set to automatically unfold at 30 kmph.

It's been available over in Europe for some time now on BMW's. Not sure why BMW chose to not activate the feature in the US...

Pretty sure the reason is because in Europe the roads are often narrower and parking tighter than in the US. More of an opportunity for someone to hit you as a result...

My '08 550 has them, and my '05 X5 had them too -- but the '04 Z4 did not... (U.S. models)

I think only european e60's have that option, and the dealer has to program it. Please correct and instruct me if I am misinformed tho...

They aren't auto-fold on mine, but I can just hit a button and they go in and out. Does it really have to be automatic? I find it easier to choose when to fold them, like when I realized I parked too close to the garage edge when I'm backing; I just fold em in.

From experience, I know that on a UK E90 (maybe the same for an E60??) with the electric fold mirror option, they will auto fold shut if you hold down the remote button on the key for a couple of seconds longer when locking the car. And then they auto unfold when you subsequently unlock the car...... I don't think this is a dealer-programmed option - just standard.......

As I don't have this option on my E60, I can't say whether its the same as for E90s. Anyone wanna try???!!!
