SilberGrauE60;
My car has 32,000 miles. I have had the oil changed under warranty two times and have had it changed 3 times on my own. I am due for another oil change under warranty in 1,000 miles according to the service nanny. I have also had the braking system flushed twice, window shield wipers replaced once and micro filter replaced twice. BMW didn't spend much money on my maintenance program. That is one reason I am reluctant to buy the extended maintenance. It would be worth it if I need a brake job.

As for the run flats, I am not sure BMW was trading them out at the time. I never had any wear issues. My problems were related to a rough ride & noise. Since I have the mini spare, drove on it for 400 miles one time, I didn't think I needed run flats. Glad they are gone. I am with the other members, it is paid for and runs and drives great.

My 545, july 2004 60k on it has extended warranty, i say buy the warranty it's worth it you don't know what will happen from now to 100k and also up to date, i have the passenger restraint faculty, sRS light problem so getting it fixed at the dealer warranty issue i guess. But car drives good, love it.

The last 3 years have been trouble free.
Congrats!

New models needs its updates and stuff happens.

"Service nanny" is absolutely the best term I heard for the fine iDrive system.

32 kM is not much for a car well served.

Brake pads, even dics may need to be changed as the cooler system and A/C fluids.

The A/C system may be worth to "flush" but then you have changed the filters pretty often.

The RF -> normal PS 2's was a great thing - at the time.

That's not many miles.

Our 3 ? year old E60 530dA have 111.000 km's (~70k miles) on the clock, and runs just like a new one

We do many miles, but we drive mostly long-distance, with a speed of 130-150 km/h @ 1800-2000 rpm's, which is pretty good for the car. We haven't changed the brakes (pads) yet !

10/2003 545 Sport, No Nav.. 70,100 miles. On extended service warranty, did not extend new car warranty- cost and coverage not favorable.
No complaints, worst new car warranty experience: recalled front seat heaters. Took 3 tries to get the correct seat cover (my interpretation, 1 time wrong color, 2nd time wrong seat style, 3rd time success). Worst driving issue: transmission slam- fixed by SW. Gone thru 2 sets of Dunlop RFT, bad wear & noise, went to Kumho ECSTA MX, Great ride, fortunately no flats on this set. Most annoying: iDrive is always reminding me it's time for service. Brakes: Big and Bad. Just got the orig rotors replaced... i have never gotten that many miles from any car. Funny, tires wear (rear first) faster than brakes. A mechanic told me it's the "go pedal".... and i say, it's my age... don't ask. Bottom line: for a first time BMW owner, I like the driving experience but i don't like the short service intervals. Dealer service depts.... finding a good one is tough, but, treat them with respect, most will help you out, even cut you a break, they did for me. Best fix to an upgrade: Cut out resistors/capactors in Aux-In upgrade. The QC on these cars is not the best. The ones with issues seem to keep having issues (SueBMW- WOW ! ) , others seem to be "status quo".

Risky but, A keeper.
