VaSh9394, I am surprised that the interior alarm of the 545 did not go off. If you set the alarm system with one push of the center key button, that sets the interior motion detector. Anyone reaching in should have set it off. Now two pushes on the center key button might disarm the motion sensor.
The motion sensor is NOT that sensitive. I often forget to click twice while my dog is in the car (140# Newfoundland in back seat) and it's usually nearly a minute before it goes off (read: I've already walked across the street to the ATM, etc. and am out of key remote range to shut it off...)

Cheers,
Ray Hull

The reason it takes about a minute for the motion sensor to go off is because the motion sensor arms after a minute or two. So the dogs aren't being picked up untill it turns on then it instantly sets the alarm off.

Not very pleasant.

I'm in Dublin, Ireland and I had a house break-in on Nov 10 last. The cops said it was reasonable to assume they were after the BMW. Lifted the glass from the window frame on the front of the house w/o setting off the alarm. This was at about 05:30 in the morning. Idea was to get in to find the keys for the car. Then either drive the car to the North of Ireland and stick it in an enclosed trailer for shipment to the UK or the continent. Nice one.
They never got them bacause I never leave the keys lying around anyway. A lot of people generally leave the house and car keys just inside the main front door. And usually under the mailbox opening. Guys have been known to use opened coat-hanger's and fishing rods to 'hook' the car keys and take off without the owner hearing a thing. Even nicer one.

So it's Take care or Take Cars.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune; luckily your family remained safe!

I used to keep my M3 keys under my pillow, but soon changed my mind - if someone really wants the car, they can have it, I don't want them in my house any longer than necessary.

Now my keys are hung on the wall near the door - no-one can get them with a fishing rod or coat hanger, but if they break the door in to steal my keys, they can grab them and get away immediately.

It's a nice car, but it's just a car.

well to make a long story short I live in New York queens and i guess these things happens alot but not where i live fresh meadow, last weekend me and my wife went to a local shopping center to grab a bit to eat. park my car really far away from all the trucks and suv's 40mins later we're walking back to the car and notice all the windows was down even the moon roof and there i see a rent a cop standing next to my car then i ask what the f@#@ happened???? sir your car was broken into! so i had them call the cops and file a report. apparently they broken into my car and took my oakley's sunglass and my nextel phone. i dunno if they were going for the car it self. funny I ask the rent a cop where were you guys when this happened and they had the nerf to tell me one of their security was on a lunch break. they will be hearing from me very soon. anyway luckily some guy saw 2 black guys jacking my car and wrote the plate down so i hope the nypd can track them down soon. also one of the security (rent a cop) i was talking to said this was the 5th bmw this week. I WAS LIKE WTF 2 bmw X5 had their xeon lights stollen yesterday ?? A word of advise guys with a screwdriver they can pop your lock and open all your windows without the alarm going off this is how bmw works I was very surprise, its that simple I comfirm this with the dealer's Mechanic. I'm having second thoughts if i try trade in the 545i and get a cheap ass honda
BRO good luck and get this installed: www.llumar.com security foil it is amazing!!! needs to kick it for 40-50 min at the same spot to break in, perfect! I also have the GPS-tracking device with anti-car jack So far good but that guard you should really sew for not acting in that case, idiot...

OT do not use black just "afroam" just to be sure here
