my 545i
hi guys,
im new on this forum and have just purchased a 545i
shes a real beauty and comes with loads of extras, msport kit, coilovers, bixenon lci lights, rear lci lights,m5 wheel, business satnav, lci idrive controller, logic 7, carbon interiot trim.
needs a few bits doing tho including polishing out a few scuffs, need some 19" m5 or m6 alloys (not sure which tho, any opinions?) , and the paddles on the m5 wheel dont work although the other buttons do work (has anyone had this issue and know why they dont work?)
heres a couple (poor) pictures, will take some more once i give her a good clean

If it does not have an SMG transmission then the paddles likely won't work. As for M5 wheels, ModBargains sells Avant Garde M335 wheels that are F10 M5 reps. $1100.00. Here they are on mine (replacing them with HRE P43SC but I REALLY like the look).

Your photo clearly shows a StepTronic shift lever, not SMG. Yet, you should be able to shift manually with the shift lever pushed left into the Manual mode, then bump the level fore/aft (+/-) on the gate. Paddles were part of the Sport Auto tranny offered as an option on some later model (LCI?) 550i cars. That is my understanding of North American models that is. Maybe it's different on the Continent.

This is how you can enable the function to work on your car. http://www.motivemods.com/BMWRetrofi...-p/mm-pa-1.htm

Even if the paddles are connected to your auto trans, they probably just don't work. It's a flawed design with a short life. I've had my steering wheel rebuilt twice for new paddles, and it's expensive.
Congrats on the purchase of your E60! It looks really clean and it's a really nice platform to modify.
As ColdList mentioned... we do have the Avant Garde M355's (F10 M5 style wheels) which are an awesome addition to any E60.
They're in stock and ready to ship out same day. The 20" M355's were also just released and are becoming really popular among the E60 and F10 community.

There is a Paddle-Shift kit you can buy that will work on the Steptronic Trans, people have installed along with a M5 steering wheel. so it doesn't have to be a SMG Trans, that is a Steptronic shifter not SMG. You may be able to find the post for this if you do a search. I saw it about 4 or 5 years ago.
