My car has done the exact same thing since new...and I've heard others describe the same thing on theirs. I describe mine best a "gear rattle"...kinda sounds like gears rattling together. Mine also goes away when I press in the clutch. It also goes away when I turn on the air conditioner. The dealer has said on several occasions that it is not a problem. I've been 3 years, 38K miles, and it sounds the same as it did when it was new...so I am not worried about it.

 

I agree...and I've had other manuals do similiar things as well...I don't worry about mine any more.

 

So, by majory consensus, we conclude that this is, afterall, Normal..... Except it sounds so abnormal.

 

I just reponded to another post on this same thing...I think it is normal and a non-issue.
