FOR WHAT REASON?

You like to annoy others, huh?

Just to add my .02, LA drivers just don't get it (& you should know this Beewang). I only wish that they drove as "efficiently/intellegent" of a manner that I have seen drivers in countrys like Germany or Sweden. LA drivers will quite often drive in the left lane 10mph slower than lanes to the right. Fogs lights sometimes seem to give them an "incentive" to MOVE THE %$#@ OVER. LA would not have quite as much of a congestion problem if they did.

Autounlocking feature when car is turned off does does exist as it works on my car.? The feature is just not available on US spec cars, probably due to some laws in place.

No, but unlocking all the doors when the driver opens his very much does exist in the US on many cars. I got used to that feature on my Benz when I step out to open the doors for my kids (so they don't plow the doors open into adjacent cars).

Why don't the doors unlock after the car is turned off?? Sounds simple enough, autolocking but no autounlocking?

That's because you have set it this way. If you have it set to open all doors when you press the remote button, then all doors will be opened when you stop the engine.
In your case, your remote opens the drivers door only, that's why the drivers door only opens when you stop the engine.

Mine doesn't unlock automatically, just lock. Could this be another thing that is different on US spec cars?
