Okay so I took my car (2006 530i) in on Monday to get the Aux Audio Input installed as well as the CD Player replaced. The CD player would skip sometimes and it would take several tries to actually get it to completely eject a CD. They went ahead and replaced the CD Player drive (under warranty).
The interesting thing is that they had to reprogram the car to work with the new Aux Audio Input.
The print out from the dealership says "Complete Reprogram of car" or something like that. I noticed that my I-Drive is different, with a silver look to it (similar to the look of an LCI 528 I drove as a Loaner) and some different menu options. Originally, my I-Drive's color scheme was brown/tan colored. Some of the menus have changed as well. Is this the latest I-Drive software? Do you think all the computers were re-programmed, even the ECU etc.?
I noticed a change in the driving characteristics too. It drives a lot better! The acceleration, engine power, throttle, and transmission all seem to be very smooth. Even the steering feels a little different. The Engine revs more effortlessly than before.
Unfortunately there's no mention of the software version in the print out. It does say "Full printout not possible because of printer not working", so maybe that's why I wasn't given more information on the software revision that was installed.
