Default my 2008 550i won't start until 10 minutes later.

Hello 5 series peeps. Ok...I've been having issues with my push start. Drives fine then I turn engine off and go inside for few minute. Come back and wont start until after 20-30 tries, after that it normal start until few weeks to few months. It happens more often when it's hot outside. There's a lot of post about this issue and no resolutions that I can find. Battery is good, key fob battery is good, it's not the starter because this doesn't happen everyday. It's been about 2 years since this has started. Any body out there that has this issue and had it fixed please let me know. Thanks!

Fuel pump? Something between the start button and the actual starter? Checked the car for errors? Fuel lines?

Just throwing some things out there.

Someone posted something about ground wire in the engine bay, but I lost the thread.

Yeah, the sequence of all of the things that must be in place before the starter will crank is significant.

You might look at the adjustment of the microswitch on the brake pedal, or a bad start switch. You may also have a sticking solenoid in the trans which I believe will block the signal to the CAS to allow starting.

I think you can discount the starter unless you are hearing the click of the solenoid engaging but no cranking. The eight cylinder starters are pretty bullet-proof, your starter isn't that old, and brush wear (if you hear the solenoid click) typically gets worse as time goes on, which doesn't sound like your situation. Be thankful, as changing the starter out on the eight cylinders is not an easy job.

I hear you on changing out the starter it is a b*** to do. I did it on a 525i and it wasn't easy. Imagine V8. I typed it on google, and it seems a lot of peo People have thus problem.
