Nice pics, those body color inserts look pretty good. I've been thinking about getting them myself, but don't really want to pay for them.

BTW, cool shoes bro. Hope that doesn't sound bad....

I just picked up my car this afternoon.? I really like the body-colored reflector inserts - I might actually leave them in.

The R6 engine is awesome.? The torque is really strong in any gear - I was accelerating very strongly in 5th gear on the highway at low RPMs and around town at lower speeds.? I haven't taken the engine above 4K RPM, but even so it's great.

I have taken a few pictures - I put them here:? http://mail.definitive.org/~ronl

Accelerating very strongly at low rpms is not the proper manner to be driving a new car...engine would complain at some stage in the future...

You might not be understanding me. I was doing about 60mph in 5th, and I put the throttle down just a bit - RPMs were sub 3K. Top gear acceleration. All very gentle driving.

The lower speeds I mentioned were basically the same, but at lower speeds - 20 to 30mph, and a lower gear but maintaining very low RPMs with an increase in RPMs during acceleration of no more than 500 or so.

My reference to strong acceleration was not meant to denote the act of accelerating strongly - say like flooring it. I meant to describe my subjective impression of the engine's pull in top gear at low RPMs with very little throttle - the only metric I have at my disposal during a proper break-in that might hint at the performance the engine is capable of.

Congrats on your new 06 530i - I got mine last Saturday (there's a separate post with pics if you're interested).

I'm in the process of breaking-in a new 2005 530i and must admit that I have "violated" the Owner's Manual recommendations (4500rpm limit, etc.) on a number of occasions. The most important thing to keep in mind is to AVOID STEADY SPEEDS!

IMHO, the way to get the piston rings properly seated is to accelerate briskly (scraping oil off the cylinder walls) and then to decelerate (redepositing oil back on the cylinder walls). Have NEVER had an oil-burner using this method.

Good luck with your new wheels, Martin

In my case: order to delivery = 4 months... 4 hours from where I live to the factory...

Very nice..........Silver Grey really does look nice when it's as clean as yours looks................Can't wait to get mine!............Any day now.
Can I ask, was there any particular reason why you went for the manual and not the steptronic auto ?

Gudge.

That "Ron530i2" profile looks fantastic, especially the rear bumper............makes you realise why some ppl opt not to change to the M-Sport bumper when putting on the M-Aerodynamic Kit as an aftermarket addition.
