Muffler delete on 550i?
Anyone ever done a muffler delete on a 550i? It's ludicrous how much aftermarket exhaust systems cost and I think the 4.8l V8 sounds great as is. I would ideally like to get a quad tip diffuser and get a quad system custom fabricated with no mufflers, just 2.5" pipe straight back from resonator (which will stay on). Thoughts? And vids of straight piped 4.8l bimmers? I know the M5's (e60 and e39) sound fantastic w/o mufflers.

At first it is a lot of fun. The compression "chuckling" is cool. Over time the resonance will get to you and your neighbors will stone you when you come home in the evening.
In the end it will cost you $1,335.00 for a Dinan muffler system to replace the OEM you threw away. Then you will have what you set out to accomplish in the first place.
I really like the sound and performance of the DINAN.

instead of just using straight pipe look for some nice compact free flowing mufflers about the same dimensions of the dinan (magnaflow etc) and weld it (or them) in place of the stock stuff.... just sayin'... no reason to pay a premium for a catback when you can get a decent sound if you know a great exhaust shop/welder
