Default MTec Angel Eyes - Out?

I purchased several lights, including MTec V2 Angel Eyes, from forum member brabusw209amg (John) in 2010. A few weeks ago a warning indicator came on indicating that the right low beam light was malfunctioning. It did not come on every time I turned the car on. But now, it comes on every time the car is started, and the head light does not light.

Is this common that MTec Angel Eyes fail after just three years? At first I was worried it was an electrical problem because it was intermittent, but now, that it is all the time, I assume it is the headlight.

I don't think this forum member is around any longer. Where is a good place to buy replacements?

Thanks for the quick response, I will reach out to John. I searched on the forum user name he had back in 2010. He must have changed it. Thanks!

3 years is about the time these can fail. My Angelibrights v3, at the time nearly $300 for the pair, had failed at about the 3 1/2 year mark. Keep in mind the standard warranty is usually 90 days to a year. The headlights are an apparently harsh environment - just do a search on headlight wire deterioration for examples of how harsh it must be. Good luck!

LED's run extremely hot at their junction point, and the marketers and mfg's of LED's simply ignore this fact. (Halogens like it hot and LED's like it cool.)

Therefore, the potential lifespan is short.

Three to 3.5 years, is that long because MTEC has one of the better heat sink designs. Almost all of the other Angel Eyes LED products will last a much shorter period of time because of absurdly poor heat sink designs.

I've posted on the heat sink issue before, and one only needs to reference the design used by BMW in recent years to realize how important heatsink design is to the longevity of an LED Angel Eye function.
