Your dealer is just a) misinformed or b) trying to get you to buy their parts and then hit you up for a new set of fogs as well.
I stand corrected. Actually, it's the OEM M5 Style bumper that requires new fogs --- and a whole new setup, really. Sorry

OE M5 bumpers don't have fogs. recently we have seen a new kit available at dealers that is a retrofit fog kit for the M5 bumper, however it was priced at about $1200, so a bit unnecessary.

It's OEM part # 51-11-7-897-207. It's called an MTech bumper and has fogs that are $136 apiece extra, so yeah, it brings the price up to about $1300 with the other parts you need.

No, this is a fog retrofit kit for OE M5 bumpers without fogs.
I was mistaken on the costs. it depends on the type you order but it can be between $850 and $2200 depending on options. This is for the kit alone, not the bumper itself.

Umnitza

got a question

I have an 08 535i and I am looking at uprgading the kit on the car, Im thinking MTech front or M5 bumper, whichever one lets me keep my foglights. The 08 has different fogs over the 04.

Now I am confused, the side skirts, mtech or m5, are they different, the rear bumper, I plan on running the stock exhaust for now, so no quad exhaust, but I do want the nice rear bumper, so I assume Mtech it is.

The M tech rear bumper, can I replace the diffuser as I plan on putting the carbon fiber diffuser front and rear if I can find them.

Now for the members, how much are you guys paying for paint and installation of the kits on average.
Thanks guys much appreciated.

my car now

thank you

I'm paying $500 to have just the front bumper replaced, sprayed and installed.

pricy man no doubt. I mean buying the kit for 800 is not bad, but then the paint and install will be probablly twice that.

You are going to need new fogs regardless of the Mtech or M5Tech.

Mtech/M5 doesn't matter. Same side skirts. If you do stock exhaust, you do Mtech usually.

Don't do front. Rear is fine, yes, the Mtech diffuser is replaceable.

Paint and install is between $200-300 a kit.

C'mon, the materials alone, base coat with a urethane clear will cost 150.00. Not including labor to prep and paint and then to modify adjust and install. If one had to pay for everything I would put it more in line with 700.00. You might be able to find a hungry shop, but I wouldn't go too cheap, because you will get what you pay for...

There are plenty of people here who have paind to have painted and installed themselves and others that have paid for paint and install. Why don't some of you chime in on this one?
