I've recently burned an MP3 CD and if I put it in and it plays from the beginning it works fine. As soon as I try and go to a different song it will play for 3-4 seconds then it gives me the following error "File / Track cannot be read". I burned the MP3 CD using iTunes 8 and my system is the standard 10 speaker system in an 06 530i.

Any help is appreciated!

Jeff

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

Did you verify the disc when you made it? I mean, many burn programs can be set to"verify" the disc after you burn it? Once, I ran "verify" and it failed near the end. I decided that I did not want to waste more time re-burning it and when I played it, it worked fine at the beginning but had the same error you mentioned above.

I will try and verify this next one, otherwise I guess I have another coaster!

Do a search, there's a thread with specific settings to use.

Some other things that might be a factor:

-laptop optical drives are inferior to desktop drives, so use a desktop burner if you have one
-burn at LOWEST speed allowable
-if you have old discs (2-3yrs) try getting a new pack of Sony, I was having trouble with some old Memorex that were read fine in a computer drive but was spotty in the car. I was gonna take it up w/the dealer but then decided to pick up a 50pk from Staples for $9 and haven't had any problems so far

Solved it... Once I switched the media it worked fine. I used iTunes 8.0 and burned it at max speed possible.
