Retired - 2004 545 SMG, Black Sapphire Metallic, Auburn Dakota Leather, Cold Weather and Sports Packages, Power Rear and Manual Side Sun Shades
I just had my car in for the 20,000 check-up / oil change. I asked my SA to have the CIP updated so that I could have MP3 play-back, and provided the SIB number.
I was told that the upgrade will not work with '04 builds becaue of M-ASK incompatability. The March 1 2006
TSB Number: 653005 seems to support what the SA told me (the TSB says MP3 is available for 3/05 - 9/29/05 builds).
Can anyone with an '04 build confirm that MP3 playback is available with an upgrade to CIP 20 or higher. Is ther ea different SIB I should be referring to?

Does this matrix help? It's a bit tricky to read (you'll have to zoom it) but it does indicate that MP3 is available (read footnote 1.)

P.S. - since I gather you're a "Dead" fan, sorry to hear about Vince Welnick. I never got too into the Dead but I was a huge Tubes fan so I know Vince's work well...
