Well, the e90 can, the e60 can't... officially. BUT: the newest software for the e60 seems to enable MP3 playback on the e60...
No, it does NOT! I have had the CIP 20.x upgrade done last week of 2005. There is NO MP3 playback at all.

Apparently a lot of E60's now HAVE MP3 playback with the new software.

My guess is, they have a problem (we know they do!) and can't find the perfect solution (we know that too!). So what they do is, they make kind of a field research, give some E60's the MP3 playback and wait what errors get reported. They did it this way in the past. So, maybe this is the reason the US is not having MP3 currently, and the German spec cars get it...

Once I have the new software I'll kow for sure. But this will be in February...

I have a German spec Nav Pro that currently does not play mp3...

Why are you only getting it in February?

Thanks!

On 30 dec 2005 I had CIP 20.0 installed on a 535d E60 Nav pro 09/04 build.

Good news:
1) no further bugs introduced, till now
2) steptronic in DS mode seems to be more aggressive
3) after a sleep period iDrive boot is very fast, at least faster than before
4) during a BT phone call if you press idrive button you can choose to hang-up or (new) to digit a DTMF number

Bad news:

NO MP3 capability at all.
Dealer said that in order to have MP3 function I have to change CCC.

I have Aux input for Ipod and it's currently sufficient for me.

Because I will not have any time to visit my dealer before February.

Well, if indeed the CCC needs to be changed they better take the full cost or I can already see heaps of legal issues for BMW. If for one bought a e60 with the commitment of being able to play mp3 Perhaps they are willing to provide a free CD changer instead. Which I did not buy because I would get mp3 in September. I guess I forgot to ask whcih year

I doubt the CCC needs to be changed becasue the e90's can do it and I am making an assumption that the hardware that runs the Nav can not be too different betweeen the models

Hello!

I know that the mp3 functionality in our cars is a mystic thing.
I found this picture in the gallary, it was made in Wullf1's car.
His car is a 2006 530xi us spec with pro nav and the mp3 functionality is given!???

mp3 with Nav Pro-gallery_3217_625_17645.jpg

Any reasons for that?

Regards
Dwarf

Are you guys sure you're burning the songs onto the CD as .mp3 files and not .wav files?
