MP3 Format

Does anyone know what the minimum specification is for MP3 files to play on CD's? I have a 2007 530i and some of my MP3 files won't play.
Initial look would appear to indicate that they must be 64k or better. is there anything else that is important?
I have some MP3 files that suddenly stop for a second or so then continue and 1 or 2 that start playing then just stop altogether. I have tried the CD on my PC and it seems to be happy with them all.

I don't think there's a minimum bitrate but I do remember a while back that BMW recommended not going over 256 kb/s. I also think that during some early tests, people found that variable bitrate files weren't as reliable as constant bitrate files.

I haven't seen that thread but that looks to answer all my questions. Thanks VERY much for the link... now I ahve to spend sometime (re)formatting my MP3 files
