second
try just using windows media player for a test - does not have the ability to create multiple files but it should show if it works
third - burn your cd's to your computer using windows media player as mp3's - you do not have to slow the bit rate down

Also, I don't know what the hell is going on with BMW. MP3 is listed as STANDARD on all E60's on the damn specs sheet & brochure that I recieved when I ordered the car. I'm going in tomorrow to sort this out with the sales manager.
Sent it to the service department with the service bulletins 1 week after I picked up the car, and the service manager sends me back the car with another chart showing that MP3 works on M-ASK cars March 2006 onwards. If I can find the work order, I'll try to scan in the different MP3 chart that was stapled with it.

I had the same result on my first attempt, when I recorded as an MP3 CD. Then I uesd the standard audio CD setting to record and it worked first time (except as I said earlier, no titles are displaying yet).
I am using Sonic CD burner.

I don't understand what you mean by these 2 lines. Are you saying that I should burn my MP3's using Windows Media Player? And why would I do your third suggestion? I'm not ripping any CD's onto my hard drive.

Also in reviewing your post earlier I have another suggestion - try slowing the burn speed down - I also did that becasue I kept getting errors at 24x
have you confirmed you have radio pro?

You are using a Sonic brand CD burner? Or a CD burning software called Sonic? And when you say you burned as standard audio CD, do you mean in iTunes?

how do you burn songs without putting them on your hard drive?

Got back from talking with the sales manager, and he's gonna look into what is going on. Because when I ordered the car, I specifically asked many times if the car could play MP3's, and each time the answer was yes. It's even listed as MP3 capable in the brochure and specs sheet. So if things don't get resolved, they're gonna bring it up with BMW Canada, and if they can't solve my problem or compromise with me, onto BMW AG (Germany). I'll keep you guys updated.

The MP3's are already on my harddrive. And tried burning at 8X, still didn't work.

i have a 4/2005 production 530xi no nav, and i have had no problem with MP3, although i think it only works in center single cd slot. i use musicmatch jukebox. over 100 songs on one cd and displays artist and song, sounds great too!
i haven't upgraded my sw version
don't believe dealer who says it cannot work
good luck!!

I think I know the root of all problems.... the radio on Canadian Spec & USA Spec E60s are different. We don't have pro radio. I believe pro radio is defined as having the extra weather band, and tuners. We don't get that up here in Canada! So while radio pro is now standard on USA spec cars, it doesn't apply to Canadian spec cars. We're stuck with business radio that doesn't play MP3s!

Yup. thats why some people asked if you got NAV... if you had nav you had to have radio pro.

Update after 4 months!
I contacted BMW Canada Customer Relations, after going nowhere with the salesman and dealership sales manager. BMW Canada immediately investigated my situation and rectified my MP3 player problem after 2 weeks. They replaced my radio with a US Professional Radio to enable the MP3 playback. Huge
to BMW Canada, huge  to Bavaria BMW of Edmonton.
I will never deal with Bavaria anymore, shady sales people lead by a shady sales manager. Once they take your money, they could care less about you. I'll take my business over to Edmonton BMW.
