Hi,

I remember reading somewhere (wich I cannot find anymore) a way to make Mp3 disc to play in our regular CD player or 6 disc changer. I tried on my car but it says on the screen that the "media cannot be read".

Any advice ?

Thanks

If you can let us know the specs/year of your car, and how you burned the disc you tried to play, we should be able to help. By the way, if your car can handle MP3 it's generally only the dash drives that work (the regular CD slot and the Nav DVD if you have pro nav). Unfortunately the 6 disc changer can't handle MP3 discs.

Everything you need to know is probably contained in the following thread:

If it says Medium Cannot Be Read, then your car will read MP3s just fine, except you've burned it incorrectly. When you burn the disc make sure its burned as MP3 Disc instead of Data Disc. For example if you use Windows and use Nero, there's burning Data and MP3, make sure you select MP3 disc or it won't read. Do not burn by using the normal Windows Drag n Drop feature to burn the mp3 or it won't work. If you use Mac, then use Toast to burn an Audio MP3 disc, not data or the mac's burn folder. I learned this the hard way... 10 CDs full of MP3s and none of them work because I did it wrong. Cheers.. Hope its the same for you..

No, this is the message if you radio is not mp3 enabled as well. My bus radio says that when I insert a mp3 disc.

Try again with the instructions from Lomag and others, your car will surely read MP3, you just burned it incorrectly. If your car doesn't read MP3s, the CD part will just dim out and do nothing, not even say, Medium Cannot Be Read. My dealer confirmed this, beacuse when I brought my car in, that is how they could tell, they said, if its MP3 enabled and doesn't read my disc then it should say Medium Cannot Be Read, if that doesn't show then it needs enabling and its not the disc's fault. Thats what they told me, so I dono as well.

It's not magic.

To burn in Nero just burn as an ISO disc but use the sub-classification ISO:1999. The instructions Rudy pointed out mentions this.

Do you know what software version you have or when your software was last updated? With the 04 and 05's you'll need to have updated to a relatively recent version, if you still have the orginal software or are still running an older s/w version you'll need to address that before you can play MP3. Otherwise the advice here is good (but note that you can also burn MP3 discs directly from iTunes or similar if you don't have Nero or Toast).
