I read in November BMWcar that 2005 model changes includes a MP3 decoder as part of the satnav pro option.

Do they mean a MP3 player? Anyone have any details of what it all means.

A 6 CD changer is nice, but it's no iPod. How long before the CD changer is obsolete, and you just load the tracks from a single CD player into a builtin "iPod". A 1GB flashdisk instead of a CD Changer. Nothing to break!

It means that you can play MP3 files. Every E60 bought with any navigation has mp3 decoder but its not activated yet. A software update will enable it in the future.

So maybe they have solved things for the 2005 model.

How do you get it to play MP3. From a CD? Is it mentioned in the owners manual?

Hope they are debbuging all the important issues first. Mp3 it?s not a priority item, in my humble opinion...

How to play MP3 files from the standard CD player is covered in some detail in the manual. It is all a pack of lies though. Other threads indicate that a software upgrade will not fix this. A new CD player will be required

Check that it actually states NAV PRO.

I think you mean the Professional Radio - different kettle of fish.
