My 3 week-old 5er (built in April) has MP3 on the CD but not the CDC.

I feel I've seen on here that MP3 functionality can be retrofitted by the dealer via a software upgrade. (My dealer says that this is so but at the moment this retrofit is not entirely stable).

Can you advise me:

a) Whether this is the case
b) If this IS the case, can anyone comment on why 5ers are coming out of the factory even now without this functionality.

Thanks for looking.

You have all the capability that is currently available.

Play MP3 on single slot CD in dash

Play MP3 on DVD (if so equipped with pro-nav) in dash

Cannot play MP3 in CDC.

CDC will be capable in new builds per BMW in March 2007. Do not know if this will be able to be retrofit or not after 03/2007.

What u r missing is the PDF chart which we have posted earlier and elsewhere, but I will repost here. FOr some reason your source info is missing the link to the chart as it is part of the original BMWNA SIB 65 18 05. Perhaps alldata cannot support attachments.

Thank you for your reply.

I believe I saw that chart previously but wanted to go into denial!

Actually my existing functionality is fine. Just trying to be greedy!
