Hey all,

I am the proud owner of '08 528i and everything is going superb except for playing mp3 cds. I just burnt a regular data cd with folders of my music and about half of it plays just fine. But, when I try to play the other songs the cd drive makes a very weird grinding noise for about 2 minutes and then idrive says that the song is unplayable. I tried this mp3 cd in a friends car (Infiniti M35) and it seems to work just fine. Should I take it in for service or is this just a random problem?

Thanks!

I say it's a burn quality issue. Try burning it again using a slower burning speed (or if you burned it slowly already, try a faster speed.) Also, don't use cheap, no-name media. Use a name brand and don't use an RW disc.

Another thing to check is the bit rate of the MP3 files. Some very high bitrates don't play nicely with the E60...

In case you haven't seen it, take a look at the following from the FAQ forum to learn more:

This is an excellent FAQ. In the FAQ please note that you should have "File System ISO 9660:1999 (this is a KEY setting)". If you don't set that the disk won't work. I got that wrong with my first disk and I seem to recall symptoms like you describe.

Cheers

Thanks for the help guys, it seems that I was burning it with the wrong file system, I am going to try it with the ISO 9660:1999 settings.
