Hi, I've searched the forum and read many threads on MP3 but am still none the wiser.

I have a 520d, 06 built in May, no NAV, with the ordinary radio - business?

Can that play MP3 in the dash?

I rang the dealer (Donohoe's, Enniscorthy) but no answe yet.

Did http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=20861&hl=mp3 not make sense?

my friend.. to make it simple... the easiest way... is to get an mp3 cd and put that in the dash cd drive... by default 06 models have mp3....
if it doesnt work go to the dealer ask if you have radio "professional'? or "business"?.. if he says you have pro radio.. then just ask them to activate mp3 if you have business radio then im sorry but the answer is no...

Yeah, that thread has lots of examples but some don't mention their type of radio.

I have burned many discs (using Nero 5 and 6, and Sonicstage) but in every case I get "cannot read medium".

So I guess my radio doesn't support it.

I don't want to fork out ?50 for Nero 7 to burn exactly as has been mentioned in other threads only to find out the radio doesn't support it anyway!!

My OP says: "with ordinary radio - business?" which to me implies I have the basic radio.

If you're not going to post useful replies ABC, then pls don't bother posting at all.

For MP3 playback you need radio professional.

Radio professional comes with navigation (business and professional) or can be ordered as an option when buying a car without navigation (EU).

In your case, you don't have navigation, and it says radio business, so you only have the basic radio, which does not support MP3 playback.

So can i go to the dealer aswell and ask him to enable mp3 (logic 7+pro nav) even though it's a my2005?! Please say yes

PS: Irishman don't even bother with nero7. It's not the burning software. And nero 7 is junk, trust me. It ruins your audio cds, and i went back to nero 6 in a blink of an eye.
