No, I write my last question about the cd player of the radio.

Hi, I have business nav in may car, and I wait for the new soft which will can

play MP3.

But I have a question: If the player will lay the mp3 and it will show and control

from I drive, will the menu write the files name text like sunshinemix(sunshinemix.mp3)?

Will write out the track name text? Or like the audio cd just the track number?????

Thanks

Cars without nav and cars with nav bus (not avaailable in the USA) can get it with a software upgrade in March.

All other cars get it with a software upgrade in September.

So does this mean even if you don't have the professional radio you get mp3 support ?

Since the software which supports MP3 is coming out soon and not yet available, nobody has seen it yet. We'll have to wait a few weeks more...

I've heard people ask about MP3 file formats; what about a different file format like AAC or AIFF? Itunes allows you to convert the file format to either of these formats. I'm asking these questions because my car is coming soon and want to look at all the options for listening to music.

The E60 came out in 2003... It took the BMW engineers two years to write some software for MP3 support... I don't think they don't even know what AAC or AIFF is, and if, it will take them at least 6 years to write software that supports it. :'(

Good question, I am so confused about this MP3 stuff, I have a written response from the UK dealer when selling me my 530D saying MP3 works only If I stumped up an addition ?250 for the professional radio option. Since, with the help of this great forum I knew no owner from the highest spec to the lowest spec had it working I was able to resist the kind offer!

Are we really going to see all E60s support MP3, for sure?

Perhaps we will never know till the software comes out and we can exchange experiences, sure would be nice though, I've got a ?19 personal CD player that can do it...it surely can't be rocket science BMW!

As I was scanning thru the options list of the 2006 330i I noticed that the Radio BMW Professional (code 663) says "CD player including MP3 decoder or MD player". I was wondering if we should be looking at a physical upgrade rather than a software upgrade for the E60. I'm also in limbo with some of you guys

BMW customer service in Munich says so, but I don't believe it. It's advertised that the pro radio is able to read MP3 files, but not the bus radio. I guess we'll have to wait until the software is out...
