After trying a CD burnt on a different PC, I have discovered that my E60 with Pro Nav, Wk 39 production does play MP3s.
The Nav DVD will also play MP3's, but unfortuanately the Nav Data is not buffered as in the Business Nav

Yes.

Long answer: vehicles WITHOUT Nav and WITH Pro Radio can play MP3 CDs.

Vehicles WITH Nav can allegedly play MP3 CDs as of October 2005 production, but we cannot confirm that yet, though we have some some reports of CCC vehicles (E90s with nav) being able to play MP3 CDs.

Not true in my case. My car no nav produced in 3/05 545i, cannot play mp3 in the single cd. It won't even detect a cd in it with mp3 files much less in the changer. Yes, true, all 06 can play mp3 files in single CD. I think I need a upgrade CIP, but I'm afraid it might screw something else up.

I burned mp3 with Nero multisession.

My Ride: E60 530D Reg 18th Sept 2003 (uk launch date) xenons, wood, mirror pack, 17" rims, Hi Fi spkr, Met Black On Order 530D M Sport Auto Silver Grey Visibility & Media Packs Wood & Lumber Support

I was looking at buying a demonstrator from my dealer and they said that if the media pack had the order code Z5L instead of Z5H then the system would be able to play mp3's when a s/w update was released towards the year end.
He had a july build demo that had the Z5L code.
In the end I ordered a new car from UK stock that was MY06 week 39 production the dealer has said this car will not play mp3's when delivered but will after the s/w update which he beleives will be available in Dec

My dealer also told me that my Wk 39 E60 would not play MP3's, hence the delay before I tested the system.

The first time I tested the CD player, my MP3 disc didn't work (duff CD?) and because the dealer didn't think I had MP3 capability, I didn't test it further.

Later, I tried a MP3 DVD in the DVD player first, which worked, then a few days later I tried a CD in the DVD, which worked, then the MP3 CD in the CD player, which also worked

I am now trying to figure out why some track descriptions are displayed and others aren't. It appears that the system takes the Artist & Title descriptions from the system properties, but it does not work for all tracks

Two tuners? Do you mean the radio can be could be "tuned" toward two radio stations? (If that is true, I did not expect this.. One group of speakers play sound from one station and the others play another?)

You're fine. US cars starting in the 2006 model year have radio pro. It has two tuners, an "All Stations" view, weather band, etc...

Hi,

I can confirm MP3 and Navigation Voice Input on a CW 32 build E61

Only the track list looks strange (Folder 006__RO instead of "Robbie Williams - Intensive Care").

simple-pst, two tuners means that two different devices "chase" independently for the radio station you selected and, automatically, the one that gets the best signal transmit it to the amplifier and then the loudspeakers. This scanning process is done several time each second in order to have, always, the best possible signal in a car moving along any road with, possibly, several different frequencies used by the same broadcast station. It is also called "diversity" system.
