Do the E60's have a moving redline? so when you start your car and the engine is not that warm, the redline is lower, and as the car warms up, the redline gets higher?

It's actually more like a moving warning range (it's the white tick marks on the RPM dial) and it is set based on how cold the engine is. Once the engine is warmed up, it's about 500 RPM lower than the red line. I don't think it affects the rev limiter or auto shift points, but then I've never pushed beyond it except when the engine is up to normal operating temp.

The redline doesn't really move as said but the red "tick marks" do.

It's actually more than 1500 rpm lower when the engine is really cold.

The cooling wather is not the point but the oil is!

The real point is that it's no more than a temperature gauge. Just a clever and meaningful place to put it.
