We have 3 kids 3 years, 18 months and 12 weeks and for the life of us we can not get 3 kids seats in the back. To have the front airbag switched off is ?400 or $700 in the UK.
The only way to go with so much baggage is a people wagon as I think our E61 days are numbered.

Been looking at the VW Touareg, Volvo XC90, Landrover Discovery... I think it's possible to fit 3 kids on the back seat of one of those.
Even the X5 is out of the question, as it has the same back seat as the E60 :'(
We are looking at the volvo xc90 as safety and space beats the E61. It's a shame it's so slow with a diesel motor but it probably handles no where near as good as the E61 so maybe the loss of speed is no bad thing!
Anyone got an XC90 and fill us in as to the merits?

how about the new land rover lr3? it's a waaaay better car than the old discovery. the best thing i like about it is the third row seats. they are actual seats that two adults can easily fit in.

I went for sports seats and am thinking I should have left the standard chairs. The car is due in on July 27 so it's too late to change now. I think the sports seats are harder so although it may hold you a little better, the price is a hard seat.
Thats my lot.

Have you thought of the (Vauxhall) Opal Zafira GSi ?
It is a compact 7 seat MPV and is very quick and good to drive with clever folding seats. It has also won many awards in UK. (see pic)
For the price of an XC90, you could probably get a good second hand one and a new Mazda Eunos (MX-5) for fun!
Opal will also be releasing a new hot VXR version of the Zafira in October. 0-60mph 7.2 sec / 144mph top speed!
What to do??

Just found some pics of the new (Vauxhall) Opal Zafira VXR
What do you think?
It's a pity BMW don't make a 7 seater, but if they did I think it would be something like this......

I test drove the XC90 diesel, and chose the E61.
XC90 might be OK as a cruiser on flat ground but get a hill and it struggles ++, its a 2 tonne vehicle. If you go for xc90 definitely need the most powerful engine - downside - fuel economy absolutely dire!
I believe BMW may well be bringing out a 7 seater X5 - which may be worth waiting for. Current X5 boot is smaller than X3.
Zafira has good reputation re versatility, as does crysler voyaler.
e61 with roof box - will give lots of baggage space.
MB E series (estate) have an option for seats in boot, but its MB!
