I know we all are starving for more info on the 550i and I am sure many of those questions about the performance can be answered by looking in the Spetember issue of Car & Driver. In this issue they test the 750i and I must say the numbers are pretty good. The 0-60 came by in 5.4 sec with the quarter mile comming in at 13.9 sec @103 mph. With a little forward thinking is is fair to say that the smaller and lighter 550i can shave some serious seconds off those numbers after the transplant.

On another note the new Audi RS4 is using a version of ARS . Looks like BMW is still leading the pack.
