Moon Roof Problem

Since last week, whenever I close the moon roof, there is a loud "cracking" noise. It sounds like crushing nut when closing the moon roof.
Operation of the sun roof is fine and quiet. However, the closing of the moon roof makes me concern. I seldom use the moon roof and the car is only 9 months old.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

I had the same problem. It is very common.
Dealer is replacing sunroof under warranty.
Part is on order. Waiting for appointment to install.

My advice, since you say you don't use the roof much, is to add it to your "list" for when the dealer performs the next service...

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
I get the same thing when I close from tilt. The problem is it does not happen all of the time. I have not addressed the issue yet as I figured I wait until the car got a little older and see what happens.
I saw one post regarding closing from tilt. Is the original post concerning closing from tilt or from full open?
