Anyone else notice that Iceman is unusually silent on this topic?

Hmmmm..... What do you know, Iceman?

I'll call my dealer today and ask, specifically, what is my expected production week. I really don't want to be one of "those" buggy customers though. <sigh>

They originally told me 10-12 weeks so I guess they could still make it. My contract is dated 11/23/04 so it has been 6 weeks since the car went status 112. Seems a long time for an ordered car to not start production. Any chance they are holding it for the same production reasons the M5 was held?

Sounds like your order was for a January allocation. Either a small dealer or all their other allocations were already "sold".

Well, I WAS going to say that but it seems Iceman moves around too much to try to nail him down to western Europe. Hmmm... anyone else think that maybe Iceman DOES move around a little too often? What exactly is it you DO on all these "business trips"?

Seriously, my slaeperson wasn't in today. I'm planning a call tomorrow. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems I should ask when the car is allocated and what is the expected build date?

Until Iceman chimes in with something different I would agree with Lomag on the normal MY changeover in September. It doesn't seem possible to start so many new MY in March. New engines do not necessarily mean a new MY. It would make sense to put the new engines in the 3 series for 6 months and see how they are prior to rolling them out in the 5 ers as well.

Ask them to do a "Vehicle Inquiry: Status" and tell you the production date (YR/MO/WK) and whether there is an actual estimated production date (would be below the others).

I have too much time on my hands and started thinking... I ordered a MY2005 545 the week before Thanksgiving. It is still "on order, status 112." Based on my calculations I rather doubt I will get the car until the middle of March. 3 weeks to build, 4 weeks to transport and 1 week to get through delivery.(if lucky) So I got to thinking it might not be much more of a wait for a MY2006. Anyone know when they start delivering MY2006? Also what changes if any are planned for the US specs?

Thanks!

I ordered on 11/27 and I'm driving it now!
