Default MULF PROBLEM? Fiber optic problems.

Hey,

Accidentely last summer when I was welding somehow the welding thread went through the floor and manage to hit a cable harness running along the left side off the car and it manage to break the fiber optic cable running there which made me loose all sound and everything running by the fiber optics as you understand.
So after alot off work I manage to take all the fiberoptics from another E60 and plug it into my car.
The problem was that I still didnīt have any sound and after checking for the blinking light at every port off the car I realize I didnt have any blink in the glove box port.
So I bought a fiber optic loop and when I put this one into the MULF port in the luggage I had blink at every plug even in the glove box port.

So I have called around to every local scrap yard with cars to see if they had an MULF so I could try plug this one in and see if it is the one failing. But noone was having it which was a surprise to me, they seem to be sold immidately if they get one in.
So before I will have to order one from EBAY or a scrap yard I want to know, is there any way I can control if this is the reason why the sound etc have stop working?

I mean when I hit the cable harness with the welder two other cables breaked which I manage to fix easily since they was normal cables but also some wierdly looking isolated cable which I think is antenna cable, I was jointing this as well as I could and I think it should work.

Thats why I mean, maybe not the MULF is the failing cause, maybe it is something with the wiring to the MULF?

So basically my question is, is it someway I can control maybe with a multimeter or anything that I have power to the MULF or somehow I can control if the MULF is working?

Thanks in advance!
