I figure it's personal preference, though I still feel there are some out there who are trying to make their car seem like something it is not....case in point, how many "M" badges are affixed to cars that are OBVIOUSLY not "M" cars??

By far the vast majority of e60s or any BMW (or any other car for that matter) that I encounter have the original chrome badges. I do not think the average car owner thinks that much about it. I recently put matte black emblems on mine. I thought it looked nice with the shadowline and black grilles. If it had come with black ones, I might have changed them to chrome, who knows. It's just a little personalization. I seriously doubt anyone at work noticed any of these changes, except for maybe a few enthusiasts who park in the same garage.

I am irritated how many E60s there are having no labels telling the car?s engine size (525i, 530i, 530d and so on) in the rear of the car. Where I live in Norway practically NO E60s have this label in the back. My seems to be one of really few with its label in place (525i in my case).

I bought my car in Germany and there too seems to be lots of BMWs without this label. In the US all BMWs have labels as far as I have seen.

It?s a small "problem" of course. However I like to see the engine size when I see a BMW and especially a E60. Is this anonymity a snobbish thing, or what? In Norway the phenomenon can be explained by the fact that most people can only afford the BMWs with the smallest engine size (this being 520d ? a diesel with 163 hp), and they want to leave the suspicion that MAYBE they have a 530i or 535d....? Cars are heavily taxed in Norway and the taxes increase very steeply with engine size (save the climate, you know).

How is this in other countries? Do you have the label or not? And do you prefer to have the label or not?
Very few E60's in the USA are de-badged.

I have a 550i and ordered it debadged as a free option. I chose this option for the cleaner look. As for those trying to portray other models, real BMW E60 enthusiasts can tell the difference!

I'm de-badging tomorrow. Someone can figure out that I have a 535i if they have the knowledge and knew where to look. I'm all about the sleeper mode. Stealth is good.
