possibly a stupid question but i still need help after no help from google..I was involved in a minor traffic collision, either way it caused my driver airbag to deploy, completely drained my battery, the positive battery terminal cover was completely melted, from shorting out, I bought a new battery, and just to test it I connected the negative and then barely touched the positive and zap is all i get, starts to melt the connector on the battery, I need to know how to fix this, I already bought a new driver airbag, and will be changing that out this weekend but I need help with this electrical problem.

you may have to replace the positive battery cable. there is an explosive release on the cable when involved in a accident.

It's called the Battery Safety Terminal. When the vehicle is involved in an accident a small explosoion takes place at the battery terminal so the cable becomes disconnected. You should be able to get a repair kit for this from BMW.
