I got my new 2007 530i with Michelin Pilot Primacy 225/50/R17 (94W) (XSE). There is no RSC mark on the sidewall. I also got a spare. Are they run flat or not??
Thanks

I've not heard of ANY Michelin runflat. Not yet anyway. Michelin do make a PAX tyre, which I think uses a solid ring inside the tyre, rather than relying on stiff sidewalls.

The fact that there's a spare seems to indicate that they aren't runflat.

Primacy aren't a high performance tyre. I'm surprised that BMW fitted them. They are typically used by fleets, as they are as hard as **** and last forever. Not what you want when you're expecting good performance.

Michelin now do a run-flat - the ZP (Zero Pressure). They also do PS2's - hmmm, wonder which ones I'd choose?

You'd better hope it's NOT a Michelin RFT; they are a completely different system, requiring their own special wheel. I'm not even sure they are made anymore. I have only read about them, never seen them offered; they had some sort of honeycomb core to them that I think was part of the wheel. WAY too complex and specialized.

Cheers,

Indeed, the PAX system is used on the Bugatti Veyron for example - that's a few quid!

However, as I stated above, Michelin now do 'normal' runflats...

I knew that name sounded familiar. Here is the Tire Rack blurb on the Primacy; it is several notches down from the PS2 and is SUMMER only.

The Primacy is not a runflat tire, but it is a great tire. I put them on my last 330i, it is a summer tire very good in the rain and they will wear well. I'd buy them again good luck and enjoy.
