To start it off, I always thought my car was slow.
I've never thought mine slow.

There was a Lexus IS-350 at the light the other day (roads where very clear) and I was looking around for cops left and right and was paying more attention to looking for cops than the light. I got a horrible start, like 1 second late. Of course he beat me. I was pissed after that because I know I could have beaten him...

Left-foot braking helps with starts. Can buy half a second against anyone Even if you can't handle the actual braking with the left foot (which apparently a lot of people can't), you can always switch the left foot onto the brake when you're actually stopped and waiting to launch.

How bad is that for the transmission though?

How would it be bad for the transmission ? It doesn't know which foot you're using

Revving up you engine to like 2000rpm and then releasing the break.... bad for the transmission?

Oh yeah, I wouldn't do that. Well, not in my own car. I was just talking about removing the delay when you have to lift your right foot off the brake, move it over to the gas pedal and floor it. If your left foot is on the brake then you can both release the brake and hit the gas at exactly the same time.
