Messed up my rim (PICS)
#1
I wasn't sure where to post this.
I messed up the rim on my wife's M35 today. I ran over some huge chunk of metal on the highway at about 60 mph.
Anyways, does anyone know if this type of thing is repairable? Obviously the tire needs to be replaced as it has a bubble on the sidewall, but what about the rim? I have seen some rim repair shops around. Does anyone have an experience with these type of places?
The dealer will charge $900 for a new rim. I can get one for about $300 online.
What else should I be concerned about after driving over that thing? My alignment?
Thanks for any info.

Don't know where you are, but most cities have a tire/rim shop. I'd suggest calling and asking them, or maybe even your SA. Obviously, you can't tell the extent of the damage from a pic, but I've seen what appear to be a lot worse get fixed. GL.

Probably repairable - even if you're not filing a claim your insurance company may also be able to refer you to one of the companies they use. And dealers use them all the time. There are also 2-3 national companies that advertise in car mags. But that might involve shipping away to get it fixed. (BTW, your profile doesn't let us know where you are!??!)
And, that tire looks cooked! I'd check with the local police department to see what other cars may have been damaged - they might have a line on how (or by who) the debris got on the roadway so you could pursue reimbursement.
