I went to an independent BMW mechanic where they had my car for about a week, then when I got the car back yesterday the DVD navigation was gone!

I immediately drove back to the auto repair shop and asked the owner what happened, and he said he did not know because he never bothered to notice that there was a DVD navigation in the drive; he assumed that the navigation system was like the new models: hard drive-based.

We went on-line to Navtech's website and found out that they no longer make the DVDs for my old BMW.

So I guess that's why they stole my DVD because the navigation DVDs are getting harder to come by.

Sucks but you can probably find a replacement on eBay.

Sorry for your bad experience. It's a shame we have to take precautions, but whenever I have to leave my car at any shop, I pull everything of value not strapped down out of the car (garage remote, registration, proof of insurance). All they get is a key. If I was having body/bumper work, I'd even pull off the license plates. My sister had a body shop lose her license plates one time during a bumper repair.

Check out the for sale section of the forum --- member is selling a new BMW DVD Map that should work for your car.

The DVD Based e60s load maps on the disc - the newer are hard drive based. Disappearing map dvds are not uncommon - TELL your indy he has a thief working for him/her!!!! Even if I valet park my car I remove the dvd and lock it in the glovebox.

There are other map dvd options but licensing rules/laws restrict posting about them.

bummer. +1 to always removing loose items from your car whenever you leave it with a shop.

used DVDs are on Ebay, I've seen them for $30 and $40.

FYI! Navtech no longer produces DVD's for BMW. TOM TOM now produces Nav discs available at you favorite BMW Franchise dealer.

PM me your address. I remember having an extra old nav DVD lying around. You can have it for free if I can find it.

Thx, but I kept my original 2004 DVD from when I brought the car, now I have to search for a new DVD on line.

2012 BMW North American Map DVD Professional 2 Disc Set

Saw the above link from BMWNAVDVD.COM, and am wondering if it is the same original 2012 NAV DVD being sold at an on-line BMW dealer site for $199?

"If it's too good to be true ... " you probably know the rest of this oft-used quote!
