155 lbs = 12 stone ish, and around 76kg ( I was wrong earlier on the KG's )

With the main problem being getting the middle of my back comfortable I wonder if you taller guys just fit the seats better, for example when I adjust the top part of the seat so the headrest is just the right distance from my head the middle part of my back is miles away from the seat or im being compressed into the middle like a sandwitch lol

yeah. duh. i guess i could set that.

by the way, this is my big post 2500! go me.
Whenever I get a new car, I set the memory seats before I leave the dealer's lot to avoid exactly the problem you had.

Oh and by the way, congrats on 2,500.

To PhantomMark. I was actually thinking of that the other day. The back support fits exactly to the shape of my spine, so what happens when someone is shorter ? Probably gets that lumbar support to his neck! I think either those Germans are all big lads and cannot think people worlwide do come is all shapes and sizes or they are just stupid. I mean, i'm an engineer myself they put all of that thinking to the mechanics and simple staff like seat design and driving geometry they do screw up ..
I narrowed it down to what seems to be the problem. It seems the pedals are positioned way to forward in relationship with the steering. Also the steering dia is quite big and the vertical tilt (the fixed vertical not the one you adjust) is way too towards the windscreen. Anyway what can you do eh?

spiros,

Do you have regular standard seats or the 20 way comfort / sport seats?

A while ago I jumped in the car after inadvertently unlocking with the second key from the house...after I got in I wondered why my knees were on my chin...the wife had her settings programed into the key

I wish she had this feature on her Mini I tend to drive that more than she drives mine.

or the E60's driving seat / arrangement is not as good ? I'm trying for the last 3 weeks to adjust it to where i want.. and failing. One week cannot get the height right and if i do my legs hitting on the lower dash. Other week i'm trying to get a nice position (legthwise) for the pedals and cannot get it to where it will be confortable for both the clutch and brake. And when i do the rake on the seat is wrong and feel like i'm on a rocket and going to take off... Not to mention the side support is not the best, when i drive aggressively i end up kissing the window ...Really starts to frustrate me.

I never had this problem with the E34 and the E39 had one of the best driving positions i've tried, fitted like a glove. Did anybody else find it abit difficult to settle in ,maybe even uncomfortable ?
I don't know if this will help, but what do you have to lose?
