I noticed under the 'Entertainment' section of the I-Drive, that there was the ability to select 'MD','TV', and 'DVD' among the other choices in the submenu (FM, AM, WB, CD).

Does BMW already have these options working on some models. I usually don't see these options on my screen, but yesterday when the I-Drive was frozen (1st time this happened) it was on-screen.

The car is a July '04 build and other than that, I don't know what software version it is running.

Any thoughts?

Other markets use the other sources.

MD (minidisc) is huge in Japan and is used in place of the CD.

TV is available outside of North America.

I remember coming across two websites that are working on a way to unlock (I think) the dvd portion on the i-Drive. It makes sense to have it. All Nav equipped e60's have the dvd drive already and the i-Drive screen is ready for 16:9 aspect ratio movies.

You can play an audio CD in the DVD drive as it is now.

This allows for a "2-disc, in-dash CD changer".

You don't get lost if you wait until it has read the disc and loaded all the data it needs for your route. Then you can take the disc out and play a music CD and the nav continues...

It would be easier for me to identify with your post if you indicated where you reside?
