on my 04 545? If so, how often? For some reason I thought I saw where they were wheel position specific tires - ie the right front would only work on the right front, etc.

Unless your wheel is off balance, I wouldn't bother. Its just not cost effective. And if you can afford a 545, the lil' benefit of tire rotation to gain on the tyre life is really immaterial.

Do you have the sport package? If you do, the rear tires and the front tires are different sizes and since the tires are directional, you can't easily rotate them left to right.
If you don't have the sport package, I think the four tires are the same size. If so, you should rotate them front to rear (keeping the left side tires on the left, right side tires on the right.)

[/quote]With the dunlops, right, you can't rotate them. Some directional tires can be rotated right to left as long as they're still rotating the same direction which means you have to dismount and remount them on the wheels. The Dunlops that came with my car have a distinctive "this side out" marking which means you can't rotate them left to right. If a directional tire doesn't have that type of designation (only a rotational arrow) then you'd be able to do it but it most likely isn't worth it.
In other words, no -- you can't rotate them or don't bother if you can...

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
For the next set of tires, since the Dunlops will wear out soon, I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.
The tire dealer told me that they have an outside side, but are not directional so they could be swapped side to side.
Is this correct?
Seems like a great solution for a BMW setup where the insides of the rears wear out so much faster.
