BMW Group vehicle sales this May were down 3.1% when compared to May of last year. However, YTD sales for the first 5 months of 2005 were up 1.8% based primarily on sales on the 6 Series, X3 and X5 trucks and the MINI brand.
Sales of the X Series increased 5.1% while car sales were down 8.5% when compared to last May. This month marks the sale of the first of the brand new E90 3 Series in the United States.
Sales of the BMW brand were down 5.7% this month when compared to last May.
Total MB sales of 17,811 units this month were down a minimal 1.8% when compared to the total of 18,141 sold in May, 2004. YTD 2005 sales for MB are down 6.2%.
MB sales would have been much lower save for introduction of the 2006 M Class last month. Sales of the M Class were up 64.6% when compared to May, 2004.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.
