Hey guys,

I currently have a 03 Mercedes E320....love the appearance of the car, and the attention I get, but it is boring me half to death...No nav, no sport package, no aux input, and not to mention its a v6 auto . Before this I had an 03 Jetta 1.8t 5spd (my favorite car to date, but lacked space), needless to say I miss the manual tranny....I looked at a few cars that compared to the eclass and it seems that the e60 embodies everything I want in a car, luxury, power and a six spd tranny ..... Im looking to get a preowned e60 based on the performance and exterior mods I want to do, what do you guys recommend 545i or 530i and are there any years I should steer away from....Thanks.......Also will the shape change soon?, I read briefly about the F10 being the new model but when is that slated to come out??

Avoid the '04 555i. Nothing but problems.

I recently bought a used 545 w/6 spd, and I love it. Definitely go for the V8. As long as you can get one CPO'd, then I wouldn't worry about avoiding the '04s (look for a later year build date, however, to make sure you can get bluetooth and some other options).

Bluetooth was available in the '04s. I have one here and it was a factory fitted option when I took delivery of the car in Jan '04. Maybe ot in the US though? Anyway - I agree that it's a must have option (especially in most of EU where hands free is a legal requirement if you want to use your phone while driving)

On US cars, bluetooth (and factory nav and HUD) was available from Mar 04 production.

I tend to agree that the 04s were a bit more problematic (first year of production and all). If possible, I'd avoid an 04, but if you found a great deal on one, I'd go for it.

Hey jowolfsburg, when I saw your handle I figured you must be a VW fan. My brother and I have had several modified BMWs in the past (sciroccos and Jettas). Like you, I also had a 1.8T Jetta and then moved to a 545. I had a 2004 545 and had no problems. Just make sure you review the service history.

But yeah, my vote is for a 545 or even 550 if your budget permits. Good luck!
