I am not an expert about autos by any stretch, but do you think that the drop in e60 sales reflects the imminent model year change as opposed to the recession?

Typically sales of an outgoing model decrease quite a bit when a redesign is right around the corner. Do I think th f10 is gonna rock the sales charts? No, but that's just me, maybe an m-kit will change the attitude of the car. Not sure what the hype is with Audi at the moment, I've never liked their interior layout at all, someone enlighten me....

+1. The crappiness of the E60 lease deals currently in effect is astonishing. Sky high money factors and rock bottom residuals. BMW is clearly trying, with crappy lease deals and big cash incentives, to force consumers to buy and not lease the leftover E60s. My guess is that BMW does not want a tidal wave of low value E60 lease returns in 2-3 years time.

Yup. If I were in the market for left over E60, I wouldn't hold my breath for a good lease deal.

Tarry at Leasecompare.com has posted the BMWFS April 2010 lease rates on Bimmerfest.com. The ones for the E60 totally suck:

40% residual and .00240 mf on the 550 for 36 months. Yikes. My lease deal for 36 months on my 2009 550 was about a .000160 mf and a 57% residual -- meaning a monthly payment at least several hundred dollars lower than the current, crappy lease deal.
