So I guess it's official that the F10 won't be a 2010 model year.
The F10 was always slotted for MY2011.

That is the US MY 2010. Some small spring upgrades only.

We are still just into the year of Obama , I mean 2009.

Brand new F10 out in the spring of 2010?

It's just the controller right? The software is the old software, but the controller is the new one (with all the preset buttons). At least that's how the 09 535i's were when I looked at them before ordering MY2009. Guess I'll know for sure when I take delivery next month.

Right, but the post I quoted mentioned the 09 5-series with the new iDrive. The 10 models aren't in showrooms yet.

I think the 09 model only has the new controller, but still has the DVD based iDrive.

Does that make the 2009 models really rare? (5-6 months total)
Rare, yes but drops the residual a ton as well. Imagine if you bought the 09 during the first production run and just 5-6 months later, your car is already a year old. It also doesn't help that the iDrive (2.0?) is going to be in the 10.

I'll say one thing for the new controller...I test drove a 2009 535xi with the new controller and the iDrive was much faster responding that the iDrive I have with my 2006xit (and I had the software updated to 25.1).
