Thumbs down

Hello everybody, i have searched the forum and had no luck on my problem.

Just today the car seems to jerk violently when i press the gas in any gear (excluding 1st gear) at less than 2000rpm. The car basically would stall i think, so you have to push in the clutch to stop it from doing this. Its really bad when you put it in 3rd or 4th and take it to less than 2000rpm then floor it! The revs dart up and down very aggressivly and its really close to doing some damage i think. Their is no acceleration at less than 2000rpm so you have to take each gear to at least 2500rpm. Can anybody help with this problem. Its really bad and makes the car seem awful to drive in! thanks

Scottishbimmer, My '04 545i will at times be a bit jerkey when it is cold and I'm starting out in 1st gear. It will smooth out rapidly and is not really too much of an issue once it is warmed up a bit.

Thanks, i would normally put it down to something like this, but its 25.C outside and the cars jerky even when really warmed up? its really strange. Its like its something electrical rather than mechanical?

Sounds like bad fuel? Or starving for fuel/air? Do you have a check engine light on?

My Ride: Currently: (3/1/06) 2002 530i black on black prem, sport, cold, xenon.

Likely a cold engine issue, has nothing to do with outside temp; all to do with engine warming up propertly.

Does it go away after a few minutes? If so then cold engine is issue.

Thanks for the thought, unfortunatly it is not just when it is cold though, happens regardless of engine temp.

You should use the pedel to the far left. It is called the clutch.
