I Notice when driving in manual that the computer keeps you from down shifting to far and causing damage to your car, I have also noticed that when cruising in 4th gear I step on the gas and the car down shifts to 2nd gear why does it do this? I am not causing any harm by not down shifting

 

Steptronic right? Nope no harm... its a automatic... it thinks you need power when you step on it so it downshifts for you. Thats the reason I dont like the auto.. no control... It wont let me down shift to a lower gear if its close to redline and it wont hold onto a gear as good as a manual and will still downshift for me when I dont want to. But thats just me.
